You care about the health of your dogs, and that’s why we put so much attention in choosing ingredients that your dog will love whilst being great for them
That’s why we recommend the Scottish Salmon with Dill, Spinach, Fennel, Asparagus and Tomato. Those ingredients sound appetising, don’t they? Your doggo will love them too, and this food will help keep them strong, as part of a well-balanced diet.
Why are these ingredient good for your dog?
Salmon is a recommended source of omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Giving your furry pal salmon can help to ensure their coat is healthy, support their immune system, and decrease inflammation.
Dill helps to maintain your dogs bones, because it is a great source of Vitamin C
Spinach contains iron that ensures their circulatory system is in tip-top shape
Fennel is an excellent source of Calcium which keeps their bones and teeth strong and healthy
Asparagus is another source of iron
Tomato contains potassium that assists muscle functionality, which helps to keep your pooch active.
What Superfoods can Dogs Eat?
There are many superfoods that dogs can eat, including oranges, beetroot, pumpkin, parsnip and asparagus. We’ve all heard the comments from nutritionists about having a “rainbow of colours on your plate”. This is important because each vegetable provides different antioxidant benefits:
- Purple foods contain compounds found in the eyes, and support healthy circulation
- White vegetables support the immune system
- Oranges are great for both circulation and vessels, whilst the natural vitamin C content helps aid and support the immune system and antioxidant processes.
As part of our Superfood Range, we gently cook the Scottish Salmon to reduce degradation and ensures the protein is the highest quality possible This process is called Fresh Trusion, which you can learn more about here: https://freshtrusion.co.uk/.
Our kibble contains 65% salmon; 35% of which is freshly prepared with the rest dried salmon. Salmon is a great alternative choice for common dog allergens that are connected to other more popular food options such as chicken, cheap grains or beef. Whilst there isn’t much research into allergies, what does exists points towards the more commonly used choices being a problem, for example chicken.
Can I home-prepare my dogs food?
It’s important to fully understand that preparing food that is formulated correctly in order to ensure their diet is complete and balanced, is actually incredibly hard to achieve. Poorly formulated diets can be harmful to your pet.
Formulated dog foods follow strict standards that make sure your dog receives all the nutrients they need long-term. We supplement the nutrient levels that are often food at the lower end in dog formulations – Vitamin E, Zinc, Manganese and Iodine to make the dog food as nutritiously optimised as possible to meet their requirements.
Adding food groups that your dog is missing, to their diet is always smart as part of their long-term feeding strategy. Here are a few that we recommend adding:
- Steamed Vegetables, cooking them increases digestibility
- Red Muscle Meat compliments poultry options
- Oily Fish contains high levels of omega 3
- Egg contain a whole protein
- Muscles for manganese and healthy bones
- A small piece of Liver or Kidney, which both contain Vitamin A, Iron and Selenium
Fresh food is hydrating, and includes a wide range of non-essential proteins and food groups that are commonly missing.
How To Store Scottish Salmon Kibble
The nutritional content of Scottish Salmon kibble can decline over time if it is not stored correctly, as the food will oxidise.
To prolong the life of kibble, we recommend storing it in a dark, dry and air tight location. Preferably in a sealed container, but definitely in a cupboard.
We recommend rotating proteins for your dog, rather than relying on one single source to ensure that allergies are avoided where possible. So why not try one of the other flavours in our Superfood range?
Choose from:
- British Grass Fed Lamb with Mint, Pomegranate, Mulberry, Broccoli and Fennel
- English Country Duck with Parsnip, Beetroot, Orange, Asparagus & Pumpkin
- Free Range Turkey with Parsley, Papaya, Nettle, Zucchini & Pumpkin
- Italian Buffalo with Basil, Blackberry, Turmeric, Flaxseed & Apple
Options for Adult and Puppy dogs, both are available in two sizes: 12kg or 4x2kg. Scottish Salmon is also available in a Light option (for Adult dogs only) in both sizes. The Light option is both low in fat and high in protein, making it ideal if you are concerned about your dogs health or weight.
